As part of the Canadian Food Summit 2012, The Conference Board of Canada has organized a debate to discuss the motion: The local food movement – good for us and good for the world.

Taking the side of for the motion are two folks well known in the food world: Mark Bittman (author of  Food Matters and How to Cook Everything and columnist at The New York Times) and Sarah Elton (journalist and author of Locavore).

Arguing against the motion are Rob Lyons (Deputy Editor of Spiked and Author of Panic on a Plate) and Andrea Mandel-Campbell (journalist, public policy commentator, and author of Why Mexicans Don’t Drink Molson).

It is sure to be a lively debate! Visit the Debate page to read more about the motion and read a message from the moderator, John Brewer (Executive Program Developer, The Conference Board of Canada).

If you are registered for the conference, attendance is free. Otherwise, contact Diane Charlebois at registrar@conferenceboard.ca, or 1-800-267-0666, to register for the debate.
