Job Opportunity – Outreach & Education Intern
We are looking for an outgoing individual with excellent writing and social media skills, based at our Toronto office. The internship is for 6 months, beginning late September 2011.
About the Position
The Intern will report to the Development Manager, but will work with the entire LFP team, focusing on public outreach and education, primarily through events and social media. Weekend and evening work is required.
Typical tasks include:
1. Representing LFP at events
2. Assisting with organizing events
3. Coordinating publication of newsletters, including managing subscriber lists
4. Coordinating social media presence and writing for social media on a daily basis
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
1. An ability to communicate LFP’s mission in an engaging and accessible manner
2. Good people skills
3. Excellent written and verbal communication
4. Excellent organizational skills
5. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in social media
6. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
7. Knowledge of agricultural and food system issues in Canada
8. French proficiency is an asset
Compensation
This position pays $12/hr for 30 hours/week for the duration of the internship.
